چکیده
This article presents a low-noise high-bandwidth giant magnetoresistance (GMR) sensor-readout circuit for nanometer resolution position sensing, critical requirement in several precision applications such as Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM). The main impediment to performance is the GMR sensor’s significantly higher 1/f noise extending over large bandwidths, thereby limiting achievable SNR. Therefore, sensing system needs be designed at level order minimize excess intrinsic generation and transmission, well external pickup. characteristics of sensor its readout components, their effect on SNR, are investigated analytically experimentally. A general process designing circuit, applicable not just sensors but also other high-1/f-noise sensors, presented. 2.5 nm bandwidth 100 kHz demonstrated an AFM nanopositioner, ten-fold improvement previously reported comparable state-of-the-art, more complex, capacitive sensors. scheme simple implement using COTS components easily extendable even unlike schemes, modulation/demodulation, where increasingly carrier frequencies renders further improvements impractical.

Low-Field Magnetic Sensing with GMR Sensors
Industry continues to reap the benefits of solid state magnetic field sensing. Every day new applications are found for solid state magnetic field sensors due to their small size, low power. And relatively low cost. The new frontier for these solid state sensors is very low magnetic fields; the kinds encountered when looking for geophysical anomalies, either natural or man-made, various physiol...
متن کاملAchieving High-Latency, Low-Bandwidth Communication: Logic Emulation Interfaces
There is a large amount of interest in using multi-FPGA systems for logic emulation and rapid-prototyping of digital systems. One difficulty with this approach is the handling of the external interfaces of the system. In this paper we describe a generic interface transducer, a board capable of handling the external interfaces of the system under prototype, allowing the emulation to operate in t...
متن کاملHigh-Bandwidth Encryption with Low-Bandwidth Smartcards
This paper describes a simple protocol, the Remotely Keyed Encryption Protocol (RKEP), that enables a secure, but bandwidth-limited, cryptographic smartcard to function as a high-bandwidth secret-key encryption and decryption engine for an insecure, but fast, host processor. The host processor assumes most of the computational and bandwidth burden of each cryptographic operation without ever le...

Less than thirty years after the giant magnetoresistance (GMR) effect was described, GMR sensors are the preferred choice in many applications demanding the measurement of low magnetic fields in small volumes. This rapid deployment from theoretical basis to market and state-of-the-art applications can be explained by the combination of excellent inherent properties with the feasibility of fabri...

Recently, “smart” urban infrastructure has been suggested as a strategy to mitigate social and economic risks posed by extreme weather events and to improve the sustainability of urban centers. Smart infrastructure is enabled by real-time sensing, modeling, optimization, and actuation, which permit the infrastructure to reason about the world around it and to autonomously reconfigure in order t...
